Energy Heroes

We are excited to announce that on Tuesday 23rd September, we will be welcoming the Energy Heroes to our school. They will kick off the day with an engaging assembly for our pupils, where they will emphasise, the critical issues surrounding Climate Change and the vital role that saving energy plays in preserving our planet for future generations.

Following the assembly, Year 5 pupils will participate in an interactive maths workshop led by the Energy Heroes. In this workshop, pupils will delve into real-world applications of mathematics by analysing contextual data related to energy consumption and environmental impacts. They'll engage in activities such as calculating carbon footprints, exploring statistics on energy usage, and using mathematical models to understand how small changes can positively affect our environment. This hands-on approach will not only enhance their numeracy skills but also cultivate a deeper understanding of the relationship between mathematics, energy, and climate science.

Moreover, as part of this initiative, our Climate Ambassadors will work alongside the Energy Heroes to conduct an energy audit of our school. This will involve assessing our current energy use practices and identifying areas where we can improve efficiency and sustainability. The insights gained from this audit will serve as a foundation for implementing changes that align with our commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Energy Heroes program is designed not only as an educational resource but also as a way to engage families and our broader community. By equipping our pupils with the knowledge and tools to manage energy responsibly, we are empowering them to contribute to meaningful change, reduce our carbon footprint, and conserve our planet's precious resources. Together, we can work towards making our school a leader in energy management and sustainability.
