Year 4 blog – December 2017

Over the last month, we have been very busy finishing off our learning in the run up to the Christmas holidays!

In English we have been writing character descriptions from a short film we watched called ‘Dragon Slayer’. We looked at each character and thought about their personalities and appearance then used figurative language, adverbial sentence openers, a range of sentence structures and expanded noun phrases to describe the character. We really enjoyed doing this and thought of some lovely descriptive phrases to complete our writing.

In maths we have been looking at angles and comparing them. We have measured angles using a protractor and spoken about acute, obtuse and right angles and how to identify them. After Christmas we will be looking at money, handling data and written methods for division and multiplication.

Christmas Play

As I’m sure you are all aware, over the last few weeks we have been practicing and performing our Christmas play ‘Aladdin Trouble’. The children worked very hard to learn all of their lines and I am so proud of all of the effort they put in. The performance was a big hit and the children were fab! Well done to all!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year,

See you in 2018!
